Whrrl

From September 2007 to March 2009 I worked on Whrrl, first as a member of the data team populating the site with information about millions of POIs and later as the first customer service representative and community manager. Whrrl launched to the public in October 2007 as a location based social network competing with Loopt and Yelp. At the time, the idea of providing GPS enabled social networking was bleeding edge because GPS phones had not become as widespread as they are today.

In July 2008, Whrrl launched as an iPhone application and began to gain awareness. In February 2009 Whrrl relaunched with Whrrl 2.0 – a product focused less on ratings and reviews and more on digital storytelling.
